FSC is Latin for Brothers of the Christian Schools (Fratres Scholarum Christianarum), but also serves as an acronym for the core values of Lasallian Volunteers: Faith, Service, and Community. FSC at the end of a Brother’s name and at the beginning of a year of service.

Spiritual Journey
Lasallian Volunteers (LVs) are invited to cultivate a rich faith life through personal and communal spiritual practice. Although not all LVs are Catholic, each will be supported on their own journey as they strengthen their relationship with God, however they may define that.

Educational Ministry
Lasallian Volunteers serve full-time in Lasallian educational apostolates serving high need communities. LVs are valued members of their ministries as teachers, teaching assistants, campus ministers, recreation coordinators, counselors, and social workers.

Supportive Companionship
Lasallian Volunteers live in simple and intentional community with Brothers, other LVs, and Lasallian Partners. The Community shares in meals, reflection, fun, and mutual care in an intergenerational support structure.

St. John Baptist de La Salle

  • dls-iconPatron Saint of All Teachers
  • Founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (later De La Salle Christian Brothers)
  • Founder of the Lasallian Charism at the heart of our ministry

He was a French priest in the 17th century who became involved with a group of men who were teaching poor children in parish charity schools. Within about five years he became completely devoted to the education of these children and to the training of these men, forming them into a dedicated, competent, committed, and holy group of educators whose whole lives were dedicated to the ministry of teaching, to the students entrusted to their care, to each other, and through all of these…to God.
