8th Associate Director Announced

Christian Brothers Conference is pleased to name Dylan Perry as the new Associate Director of the Lasallian Volunteers for RELAN as the LVs prepare to mark the program’s 25th Anniversary year.

As Associate Director, Dylan will join Jolleen Wagner, Kathleen Glackin and Andrew Blythe in the operation of the Lasallian Volunteers. Specifically, Dylan’s focus will be on the health and well being of current Lasallian Volunteers.

Dylan earned a Masters in Public Service at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. Dylan served as a Lasallian Volunteer at West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, PA. Dylan comes to us with experience supporting graduate students with group public service projects as well as training in community facilitations and conflict transformation.

When asked about what motivated him to apply for and accept the position on the LV staff, Dylan shared, “Serving as a Lasallian Volunteer was one of  the most formative experiences of my life, and I welcome the opportunity to facilitate similar experiences for young people.” The LV staff is looking forward to having Dylan on board and his return to the Lasallian community.

Dylan officially begins his new position on August 8, 2013 and will be based at Christian Brothers Conference in Washington, DC.

LV Alum Writes Cover Story for America Magazine

Katie Rose Quandt, 2010-2011

Katie Rose Quandt, 2010-2011 wrote the cover story in the July 2013 issue of America magazine, one of the most popular magazines of its kind in circulation. Katie, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame joined the Lasallian Volunteers and served at Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore from 2010-2011. The staff and extended family of Lasallian Volunteers congratulates Katie on this fine accomplishment. We encourage you to read this tremendous story titled “Prisons, Forgiveness and Social Justice,” a view on how Catholics are responding to the use of solitary confinement.

Come Celebrate 25 Years Alums!

On July 22, this year’s cohort of volunteers will begin Orientation at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL. As part of the Orientation, we will be hosting a 25th anniversary kick-off celebration to be held Friday, July 26th at 8:00 pm, on campus. (Directions to follow). We would like to extend the invitation for you and your family to join us in celebrating this great milestone! We hope you are able to join us in sharing about your experience as a Lasallian Volunteer, hearing other people’s stories, and sharing in that Lasallian community and fellowship we love so much! There will be food, activities, and plenty of laughter and stories to go around! Please fill out the attached Google document (LV 25th Anniversary Celebration Form) to RSVP for this celebration. All responses must be submitted by Friday, July 19, 2013.
