Volunteers serve as teachers and coaches. They also direct the Intramural Sports Program and assist with tutoring and Christian Service programs after school hours. No volunteers are currently serving at Cathedral High School.

Cathedral High School is an urban all-boys, college preparatory high school located just northeast of downtown Los Angeles. The school is located in an economically depressed area, but within minutes to major cultural landmarks in Los Angeles. The student population is over 80% Latino and has a growing number of Filipino and African American students in grades 9 through 12, with a total enrollment of 650 boys.

Over 68% of the students receive significant financial aid in order to attend the school. Most of the students come from low or lower middle class families. Nearly 30% of the students live at the federal poverty level. Only 56% of the operating funds of the school come from tuition. Lasallian Volunteers at Cathedral teach boys who enter high school at or below grade-level in reading and math but who desire a challenging curriculum that prepares them for college. Nearly 98% of our graduates enroll in college, the majority earning admission to four year universities. Most of the students will be the first persons in their families to attend college.
