Christian Brothers Conference is pleased to announce that Martin Richard has been named the new Coordinator of Recruitment of the Lasallian Volunteers for the USA/Toronto Region of the De La Salle Christian Brothers.
As Coordinator of Recruitment, Martin will join Alisa Macksey, Director, Jolleen Wagner, Associate Director and Jim Ruck, Director of Development in the operation of the Lasallian Volunteer Program. Specifically, Martin will coordinate and manage all recruitment efforts including: maintaining and building relationships at the seven Lasallian Colleges and Universities, building relationships at non-lasallian Universities, engaging the over 400 Alum volunteers across the country in recruitment efforts, coordinating the LV/LACUP Scholars, and assisting with the day to day operations of the national office.
Originally from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Martin is a graduate of Louisiana State University where he completed a BA in Anthropology. Martin was first exposed to the Lasallian community during his year at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, where he also learned about the Lasallian Volunteers program. After graduation, Martin joined the Lasallian Volunteers and served for two years at La Salle School in Albany, New York. At La Salle School Martin worked with the young men in the residential program through recreational and campus ministry activities. He organized camping trips, basketball games, and other outdoor and on campus recreational activities. After completing his two years of service in Albany, Martin moved to Racine, Wisconsin, where he has spent the past year working at San Juan Diego Middle School. At San Juan Diego, Martin held many different roles and positions including work as the Religion and P.E teacher, food service coordinator, volleyball and basketball coach, librarian and after school activities coordinator. In the past three years, Martin has experienced numerous lasallian communities and ministries that exist in the USA/Toronto region.
We are confident that Martin brings the skills, experience and enthusiasm to accompany college students as they discern a year or life of service to the Lasallian Mission. When asked what motivated him to apply for the position, Martin responded, “To have the opportunity to give back to the program I got so much out of and introduce the program to new people.”
Martin officially begins his new position on July 7 and will welcome the new ad returning Volunteers at Orientation at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA from July 26 – August 4. Martin will be based at Christian Brothers Conference in Washington, DC.
