Instructions

All four (4) forms are necessary for a completed application. You will need Microsoft Word to open all files. Please type data directly into the application in a readable font (Arial, Helvetica, or Times New Roman preferably). Three (3) references are required, as well as an official transcript and a copy of either your Passport, Birth Certificate, or Driver’s License/ ID card. Additional instructions can be found on the first page of the 2010 Application.

FAQ

1. Can I send you a copy of my transcript?
We will only accept official transcripts, in a signed and sealed university envelope. Ask your registrar’s office to send one directly to our address, Attn: Martin Richard. If you have transferred, or attended more than one institution, we will require a transcript from each school.

2. Should I e-mail or mail my application?
Both. The official application must be received in the mail, but an electronic version allows us to start screening your application sooner.

3. How long does the FBI fingerprint process take?
Typically there is a 2-3 week waiting period to receive notice from the FBI. Therefore we ask that you get fingerprinted as early as possible. In some cases we may be able to begin the interview process before receiving the results, but no volunteer can be admitted without first completing the background check.

4. How does the interview work?
We interview applicants over the phone, and the conversation usually lasts 1 ½ - 2 hours. Beginning in late March, we will interview applicants as soon as possible, according to when their completed applications are received.

5. When is the latest I can send in my application?
We will continue to accept applications until all volunteer positions are filled. Therefore, it is important to submit materials sooner than later. Applicants who apply by April 1st are assured of having their applications processed, and applications received after that date will be screened only if additional positions remain.

6. Tips? Suggestions?
Use spell check and grammar check. If possible, have someone review your application and essay before sending it in. Give your references due notice as to when they should mail their forms in.

If you have any questions along the way, feel free to contact LV staff member Martin Richard – mrichard@cbconf.org
